Clearing storage and creating social impact

Another day, another office move for an agency on the way up. Events are back and so are the people that make them happen so more people means more space. Previously based in Shadwell, London, the Redactive team moved 2 miles across the city to trendy Clerkenwell.

With an office move comes a time to relook at items left in storage and that’s exactly what the events team at Redactive did. They found a whole host of items they no longer needed and wanted to donate them to a social cause. Event Cycle was called in to help this happen.

Lanyards, badge holders, round table centre mirrors, storage boxes and stationery were among the items we had to rehome. We found three destinations for the event materials to go to.

The charity Mugeni Montage provides free tuition, work skills and business training programmes, workshops and internships to young people who come from difficult and underprivileged backgrounds. Surviving on donations and fundraising activities to gather money for their services, Mugeni Montage would prefer to spend their funds on the training they provide rather than items that would be nice to have. Badges, mirrors, storage boxes and stationery were all taken by the charity to use at their events and in their offices.

Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene are basic human rights. They should be a normal part of daily life for everyone, everywhere – but they aren't. That's why Water Aid exists. As part of their outreach, they attend events and festivals to educate attendees about their work. They too took some storage boxes and some of the round mirrors to help decorate their spaces at events and carry the items there safely.

Last but not least we have the lanyards. These can be recycled if sent through the correct path and TerraCycle provides the responsible route for this. We sent the lanyards to TerraCycle to make sure they didn’t end up in landfill.
