Informa Embeds Repurposing into its Exhibitions: MRO Europe 2025 Assets Delivered to Six London Community Groups.

The biggest issue with exhibitions isn't the main build; it's the exhibitors at massive events like MRO Europe packing up their individual booths. That’s where mountains of leftover stationery, lanyards, and small tech can get left behind by international exhibitors and end up in the skip instead of somewhere more useful.

When Aviation Week Events, part of Informa Markets, the organisation running the event, approached Event Cycle, they didn't just want a simple solution; they wanted to prove to their vast network of aviation specialists that the event's social and environmental footprint could be responsibly managed.

Aviation Week Events, trusting their expertise, established Event Cycle as their official repurposing partner. They adopted the solution by including Event Cycle in their exhibitor manual and having the team on-site at the Excel London venue during the de-rig. This delegation ensured Event Cycle could be out and about on the exhibition floor to collect materials directly from exhibitors themselves.

Community Support Delivered

Their onsite presence successfully secured several streams of high-value assets to donate to their charity network:

  • The TV for the Box Office: We took an on-stand TV from US exhibitor AireXpert and rerouted it 4 miles away to St Pauls Arts Trust, a charity theatre in the Isle of Dogs. The TV has been a welcome part of their theatre upgrade and will be displaying show information in their box office area.

  • Tech and Creativity: We collected three sets of flower bouquets for Pembroke House, a community organisation tackling inequality in Walworth. They integrated the flowers into their "Photography For the Soul" and "Girls Like Us" creative workshops, directly enriching sessions for young women from Global Majority communities.

  • Operational Essentials: We channelled a healthy supply of notebooks and pens to Stepney City Farm for use in both administrative tasks and environmental education workshops delivered to over 5,000 local children a year. The stationery will also support the 9th Stepney Scouts for their regular youth events.

  • The Repurpose Ripple: Lanyards, a common trade show surplus, were collected by The Little Ark, a community interest group. They use these lanyards in their workshops, repurposing them to create holders for yoga mats, which are then donated back to the local community.

Their leadership decision turned a standard trade show teardown into a demonstration of organisational responsibility that delivered essential resources to six different London charities.
