Stitch & Burson Global: How a brand activation completed a community sensory sanctuary

A stack of 24 premium cork yoga mats, wooden slatted walls and matching desks shouldn't be the leftovers destined for landfill after a high-end corporate event. When Stitch and Burson Global wrapped up their latest wellness project, they didn't want the well crafted assets to simply disappear into a warehouse or worse. Instead, they partnered with Event Cycle to turn a de-rig into a direct investment in South London’s health, creativity, and community resilience.
The items once used for a major wellness activation were rerouted to three organisations where event surplus became daily essentials.
From Corporate Event to Grassroots Healing
By partnering with Event Cycle, Stitch and Burson Global ensured that this corporate mission for better health translated literally into the hands of local community leaders.
The challenge with event assets like Mira Fit cork mats is that they are a luxury many community groups simply can’t budget for. We identified the perfect match for them in South East London to make sure these items landed where they could do the most good:
Sound Healing at Melanin Health & Wellness: Located in SE17, Melanin Health & Wellness (MHW) provides a vital sanctuary for community workshops and holistic health. They have integrated the cork mats into their weekly "Healing Sound Journey" sessions. Every Thursday, local residents are supported by the power of gongs, crystal bowls, and handpans while resting on professional-grade equipment. It’s a direct extension of the health and quality of life mission, providing accessible wellbeing in the heart of the city.
Free Fitness for Mums at The Bradfield Club: This Peckham-based youth centre is a lifeline for young people, but they also tackle the health of the wider family unit. They run completely free fitness sessions for local women and mums three mornings a week, including a free crèche to remove any barriers to participation. We delivered a portion of the yoga mats to support these sessions, ensuring that professional equipment is available to everyone, regardless of their financial situation.
The Creative Workshop at Penge Shed: It’s not just about physical wellness; it’s about social health. Penge Shed is a lively project for retired people to socialise, talk about mental health issues whilst getting creative with wood. We rehomed the large slat walls and desks with their woodshop. These assets are now being used as organisational infrastructure while the team builds stage sets for school plays, creates signage for local park volunteers, and, of course, puts the world to rights over tea and biscuits. Repurposing with Purpose
By partnering with Event Cycle, Stitch and Burson Global proved that a wellness event could have a longer healthier life long after the delegates went home. A cork mat from the activation is now the foundation for a sound healing journey, and a slat wall is now part of a retired resident's creative workshop.
When brands align their event de-rigs with their core values, the impact goes beyond a spreadsheet and it can settle onto the floor of a community hub and into the daily lives of the people who use it.
That’s what it means to repurpose with purpose.
