Story Events: Giving New Life to Leftover Props & Tech Pieces

In the bustling world of event management, Story Events distinguishes itself with its emphasis on creativity and dedicated client service. Founded in 2013 with a vision of blending bespoke event planning with a passionate, experienced team, Story Events has since become synonymous with excellence and perfection in every event they produce. From conceptualisation to execution, they take pride in delivering exceptional experiences, relieving clients of stress, and bringing their visions to life.

However, the journey doesn't end with the event itself. Recently, Story Events found themselves with surplus items that had come out of storage, items they couldn't find new homes for. Determined to minimise waste and make a positive impact, they reached out to Event Cycle with an offer to donate these items to charities in need.

With the help of Event Cycle, Story Events facilitated donations to several different organisations, each with its own unique mission and community focus.

Good Chance Theatre, a beacon of hope for refugee artists, welcomed the donation of computers, glasses, wooden signage, and other items. These resources found use in the theatre's office, community celebrations, and rehearsal spaces, enriching the lives of both artists and audiences alike.

Meanwhile, Covent Garden Dragon Hall Trust (CGDHT), a charity offering social, educational and recreational provision, co-produced with local people, to facilitate the needs and interests of diverse communities, eagerly accepted some cameras, games, glass jars and tote bags. The cameras will be used by both their 3 after-school clubs (ages 10-11) and their media collective (ages 14-18) for digital photography workshops. An example of this will include a piece of work with young people where they go out into the local community to identify and photograph areas where they feel safe/ unsafe; The donated games will be used as educational pieces, giving young people the opportunity to explore how games are constructed, an important building block in digital games design and production; Glass jam jar will be used for arts and crafts activities and the bags will be used to give out end of term presents for young people.

At London Bubble, where young people and elders come together through art, frames, bell jars, and lamps found new homes in the garden and community spaces. Rehoboth Community Centre, committed to alleviating food poverty and social isolation, planned to distribute the donated items of steel lanterns and oil heaters to vulnerable individuals in need of support, extending a lifeline to those facing hardships.

Even the very young, represented by 1st Battersea Brownies, benefited from the generosity of Story Events. Props of wooden logs, glass jars and frames donated by the event management team would add a touch of magic to Brownie camps and meetings, fostering imagination and camaraderie among the girls. And at Vauxhall Gardens Community Centre, a community wellbeing charity, donated items such as bottles, satchels and digital cameras promised to enhance programs and services, supporting vulnerable adults and promoting literacy and education.

Thanks to the collaboration between Story Events and Event Cycle, leftover props found new purpose and brought joy to communities in need. As these items embarked on their second chapter, they symbolised not just a donation, but a commitment to sustainability and compassion.
